More and Less for 2012
As 2011 comes to a close, it’s a great time to think about what I want to do more of and less of in the coming year. Here’s my list of the ten things I want to do more and less of in 2012:
1. Smile more
2. Hug more
3. Love others more
4. Be more thankful
5. Be more joyful
6. Be more peaceful
7. Exercise more
8. Eat and drink less
9. Enjoy more
10. Make a bigger difference
Once again I’m going to keep this list near my desk and refer to it throughout the coming year, to stay focused on what’s really important to me.
Another thing that’s still important to me is the commitment to being green. Our earth is a gift and it needs our attention more than ever. Protecting and preserving our environment and practicing sustainability are ways we can “serve above self” as the Rotary Club motto implies. So let’s all commit to being green in 2012.
How about you? What do you want to more or less of in 2012? What will you commit to?

I can sum up my resolutions in a single word…Discipline. I am confident I will accomplish many wonderful things in 2012 as long as I am more disciplined than I have been in years past.

Demonstrate gratitude more. About 15 years ago I made a daily habit (5 days a week) of writing a thank you note. I think it changed my brain. I am going to do that again for 2012 because I lead such an unbeleivably charmed life, gratitude is really my overiding emotion most of the time.

To expand leadership development in my organization. Ken Blanchard workshops were well received in 2010 and 2011 and look forward to facilitating more in the future.

I have recently revisited my personal and professional mission statements and I resolve to live in tune with these two mission statements – which by the way are quite congruent with each other.
Personal Mission Statement: I embrace mercy, seek justice, and walk humbly with my God (you may recognize this from the Bible – it’s Micah 6:8).
And my professional mission statement is to help others get the good feelings they want from the products and services I offer (you may recognize this one also – it’s from The One Minute $alesperson). Nonetheless, these are my mission statements. They have guided me well in the past and I resolve to live them in the coming year.
